When you are on a horse and he gets spooked, and takes of running, the right thing to do would be to stay calm and ride him in circles til he calms down.

Honest Horses
This is the book my Grandma and I have been reading it is a book with intelligent things inside of it. You'll a lot of little things about the wild horses, but it will all come out as one big thing. She did a of work before she wrote this book, like I said, she interviewed lots of people about them and what they thought of them.
I respect all manor of horses and the way they live from the time I was little up to now and forever.

Fun Fact
The hock, or gambrel, is the joint between the tarsal bones and tibia of a digitigradeor unguligrade quadrupedal mammal, such as a horse, cat, or dog. This joint may include articulations between tarsal bones and the fibula in some species (such as cats), while in others the fibula has been greatly reduced and is only found as avestigial remnant fused to the distal portion of the tibia (as in horses). It is the anatomical homologue of the ankle of the human foot. While homologous joints occur in other tetrapods, the term is generally restricted to mammals, particularly long-legged domesticated species.

Flicka's Of The World
The wild horses in the world today wern't only sent here to help us work, one reason they are here, to me, is to help represent our freedom, and also, they are part of our heritage, to some people, they are creatures who must have there chance at living, they are just like us, trying to get along in life, when I think of the word west, it makes me think of the wild horses running on the plains of America, this is a free country, and not just for the people, but the other extraordinary animals that live on the lands of the U.S. I want to make a difference in there lives and do what we can for them. They have families, and so do we, you must understand that they cannot stand up for them selves and say, " Hey, leave us alone". They are forced by the hands of humans and by the words of a man, they need your help, I can't do this alone, I need help, so please get up and do what you can for these useful, magnificent horses, your not alone, and neither am I .

Fun Fact
Today's fun fact is short but interesting, to me, in a wild herd of horses, the mares of the group choose where the herd goes.
Another fact, about the BLM, is, when they do the yearly round-ups, they do not round-up the leaders of the herd.

Archery
This kind of off topic today but once I get enough money I am going to by my own bow and arrow set, I really want to learn to be a master at shooting. I think this subject goes perfectly with horses because of the movie Brave. I have been waiting for an adventure since I was like, five yaers old, I geuss. I am determined to find this adventure, it will take courage, trust and wisdom to take on the adventure I long for. To be honest I will have to work on the courage
part, but it'll be worth it!

Fun Fact
The reason the BlM rounds up so many horses is because there is too many horses for the land to sustain. The wild horses don't have any natural predator to keep the population from over populating.

Honest Horses
My Grandma and I are reading a book called Honest Horses written by Paula Morin and I find it
quite interesting. She puts little facts in there that I don't know, she interviews a lot of people, wild horse advocates, ranchers, and a lot more. We are preparing for when we visit Madeleine Pickens Sanctuary, I hope to become a volenteer there and come closer to the horses.
Have a good day!!

Fundraiser For Horses
The Dyer sisters on the go making plans to help Madeleine Pickens with her Wild Horse eco santuary ( Mustang Monument). We are selling cookies to people for 4.50 a dozen and hope we earn plenty of money to give her to save the horses, part of our heritage. Just thought I'd share that with you guys today and hope you have a good weekend!
Fun Fact
You +1'd this publicly. Undo
1. Horses sleep standing up so that if they spooked, they can take get away quicker from the pretador or whatever it was that scared them. And horses can't lay down for a real long time anyways because it causes them to not breath as well.
In a wild herd, the mares get to decide where to go.
